Professor Gavin Bunting, Department of Civil Engineering, was invited by the chair, Jane Davidson, former Welsh Government minister, to be a member of the Challenge Group in December 2022 as the circular economy expert and to also co-chair the food group.
The aim of the food group was to demonstrate how the food system is critical in addressing climate change and ensuring the wellbeing of Wales.
The Wales Net Zero 2035 Challenge Group has explored ways
to accelerate the delivery of Wales’s climate change commitments, in a manner that addresses the many related challenges facing Wales, from food and energy security to rural livelihoods and economic opportunity for all.
The Group was commissioned by the Welsh Government and Plaid Cymru to provide pathways to net zero by 2035.
