AWARDS

Professor Tavi Murray

Congratulations to Professor Tavi Murray (Geography) who was awarded the CBE in the New Year’s Honours list for services to Glaciology and Climate Change Research.

Professor Murray was also awarded the Polar Medal in 2006 for her research in the Arctic and Antarctic and is a Learned Society of Wales Frances Hoggan Medal winner.

Professor Kelly Mackintosh

Congratulations to Professor Kelly Mackintosh (Sport and Exercise Sciences) who has been ranked among the top experts in the world by Expertscape for her research in sedentary behaviour. 

Professor Mackintosh has published over 100 internationally peer-reviewed scientific papers focusing on the use of novel approaches to both measure and promote physical activity and decrease sedentary behaviour, across the lifespan and disease status, on a population level.

RESEARCH NEWS

New study of the collective behaviour of baboons

In a unique study, researchers from Swansea University (UK) and the University of Cape Town in South Africa have used GPS collars to study the collective behaviour of a troop of baboons living on the outskirts of the City of Cape Town.

The study led by Anna Bracken, PhD student and Associate Professor Andrew King, senior author, has been published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences.
